Ingredient - Dispensing Fee Relationship

  • Ingredient calculations are based on the ingredient edit. When the claim finishes its process, it keeps the final ingredient basis of cost. These are typically AWP, a specific MAC list or any other standard.

  • The final Basis of cost captured is used for Dispensing Fee calculation.

In the above example, BIGMAC pricing was used for Ingredient calculation. The same Basis of cost from the Dispensing Fee edit will be used for dispensing fee calculation

  • If the Ingredient Edit Basis of cost is not available in the dispensing fee edit, then Default will be used.

Summary

  • The basis of cost for the 'Winning' ingredient edit will be used for Dispensing Fee calculation
  • If the winning ingredient edit used AWP for calculating ingredient cost, then the Dispensing Fee rule associated with AWP basis of cost will be used. Similarly, if the winning ingredient edit used BIGMAC for calculating ingredient cost, then the dispensing fee rule associated with BIGMAC basis of cost will be used.
  • If the winning ingredient cost edit used a basis of cost that is NOT set up in the Dispensing fee edit, then the dispensing fee process would use the DEFAULT rule in the dispensing fee edit.
